Unit 6 : Personal Pronouns

 1)   A pronoun is used in place of a noun.
Examples :
Tom sees a crow and he throws a stone at it.
(The pronoun ‘he’ replaces the noun ‘Tom’ and the pronoun ‘it’ replaces the noun ‘crow’.)
2)   ‘I’, ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’, ‘we’, ‘they’ and ‘you’ are all personal pronouns.
3)   The prouns ‘I’ and ‘we’, which denote the persons speaking are said to be personal pronouns of the the first person.
4)   The pronouns ‘you’, which denotes the person or persons spoken to, is said to be a personal pronoun of the second person. ‘You’ is used in both in the singular and plural.
5)   The pronouns ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’ and ‘they’ which denote the persons or persons spoken of are  to be personal pronoun of the third person.
6)   ‘I’ is the only personal pronoun that written with a capital letter even when it is not used at the beginning of a sentence.
7)   ‘I’, ‘you’, ‘we’, ‘she’, ‘he’, and ‘it’ are subjective or nominative pronouns.
Examples :
He likes apples.
(He is the subject. It appears before the main verb likes)
